Common questions
What does a bookkeeper actually do for my business?
Records the day-to-day transactions, reconciles the bank accounts, keeps accounts payable and receivable current, and produces statements you can make decisions from. Roughly, bookkeeping keeps the record accurate and accounting interprets it.
My books are months behind. Is that a problem?
It is common and it is fixable. A catch-up is a defined piece of work: establish where the records stopped being reliable, rebuild from there, and reconcile forward until the books agree with the bank. Being behind is a reason to start, not a reason to be embarrassed.
Do I need to change accounting software to work with you?
No. We work in the system you already have. If it genuinely does not suit the business any more we will say so, but switching is your decision and not a condition.
Who actually does the work on my file?
A named bookkeeper, with oversight. You are not routed to whoever is free that week, because someone who knows your business catches things a stranger cannot.
Can you work with my existing accountant?
Yes, and it is a normal arrangement. We keep the books accurate through the year and hand a clean file to whoever handles your year end, which usually makes that engagement faster.
